Jeanne McQueeney is seeking county commissioner seat

McQueeny FamilyEagle, Colorado, January 6, 2014—Following a day of welcoming teachers back during their professional development day, Jeanne McQueeney, Eagle County School Board President, announced her candidacy for County Commissioner in District 3.  Jeanne would be replacing Sara Fisher who is term limited.

“As commissioner I will make Eagle County a place whereworking families can succeed, where their children can thrive, and theirparents can age as part of the community.” McQueeney said. “The economic recovery will bring opportunities to re-invest and re-focus our resources where they will have the greatest impact.   My efforts to merge partners with ideas will result in an economically vibrant, sustainable community “.

McQueeney is the founder and Executive Director of Early Childhood Partners and a faculty member at Colorado Mountain College.  She served on the state’s Early Childhood Council Advisory Team through an appointment by Governor Ritter. She hasextensive experience teaching and has been a consulting specialist for the Federal Head Start Program.  She receivedher Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education from University of New Mexico.

McQueeney has served on the Eagle County School Board since 2007.  In addition, she serves on numerous volunteer boards including the Eagle River Youth Coalition, the Rural Resort Region Early Childhood Council, and Wayfinders. She is a member of the Vail Rotary Club.

Jeanne and her husband, Harry, have lived in Eagle County for 22years. Harry is Assistant Principal at Eagle Valley Middle School and their children, Carson and Megan, graduated from Eagle County Schools and are currently attending college.
